HAMMOND, IN – On October 23, 2024, board members from the Hammond Hispanic Community Committee of Northern Indiana (HHCC) joined management and staff of Horseshoe Hammond Casino to receive a donation of $7,448. This contribution will continue the HHCC’s mission to enhance the quality of life for the local Hispanic population and improve the community at large by providing information and sharing diverse cultural opportunities.
The donation was made possible through fundraising efforts at Horseshoe Hammond Casino centered on staff participation in charitable collections. “We have different philanthropic activities within our team member base,” explained Caesars Entertainment Senior Vice President & General Manager Bill Gustafson. “It’s important for us to give back to our community. For example, staff can donate five dollars if they choose to do so on jean days.” This involvement allows employees to wear jeans opposed to traditional work attire.
Horseshoe Hammond Casino is active in supporting philanthropic efforts, such as those provided by the HHCC. “On behalf of almost 800 team members, we’re proud to support the Hammond community and the greater Northwest Indiana region to assist in funding activities spotlighting Hispanic Heritage Month,” Gustafson added. “I’m honored to work alongside colleagues who give back and support local initiatives.”
The relationship between the HHCC and Horseshoe Hammond Casino is newly established, having come on the heels of a concert promotion for the band Voz de Mando who performed at the casino in September. “Horseshoe Hammond Casino was kind enough to offer 40 complimentary tickets to our organization,” stated Deborah Trevino, President of the HHCC. “Those tickets were offered through our organization as an outreach tool for the Hammond community. Now we’ve received this generous donation, and we’re hoping to return the favor by connecting applicants for their job opportunities through the HHCC.” In addition to their efforts with workforce development, the HHCC is also active in awarding academic scholarships and hosting a free annual Latino Resource Fair showcasing local colleges, social services, legal agencies, churches, insurance companies, and healthcare industry representatives.
